Incubating eggs

The eggs have now been incubating for a little over a week. It is the perfect opportunity to “candle” the eggs to see if there is anything growing inside. First, we talked about the incubator and how it works.

Every day, we spray the eggs in order to maintain the humidity level.

Then, we feel how warm the egg stays inside the incubator.

We set the egg on top of a flashlight in order to see the insides.

In the above photo, you can see the veins and the air sac at the end. The dark shadow is the developing embryo.

The smaller, darker area is the eyeball!

The senior kindergartens then did a scientific drawing, complete with labels.
