Blast off

The classes have been expressing an interest in learning about space, and more specifically, space vehicles. They have been making and building space buggies, rockets, launch pads, etc. since they were interested in making rockets, we made some small paper ones today, powered by a straw and their own air!

Musuem of Nature

What a trip! It was so much fun exploring the museum.  There was so much to see and do, lots to keep little fingers and minds busy! We hope your child was able to explain to you some of the things that they saw or did! A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers who joined us, we really appreciate your efforts!

Toonie Tuesday

Please consider sending in a Toonie with your child tomorrow-Tuesday, February 24. A Toonie from each student and staff member will raise over $1500 in aid of the Education Foundation, upon which all our schools, including Stonecrest, depend for support of needy children  in our community.Image result for toonie clipart

What is in a name?

Each morning, upon arriving in class, the students sign in. As teachers, it is easy to glance around and see who is missing, but it is also a great, purposeful way to practice printing-using upper case letters at the beginning of the name, and the remaining letters should be lower case. Beginning tomorrow, the students will be expected to sign in by finding and writing their last name! If your child is not yet comfortable writing his or her last name, that is something you may wish to review and practice.

Yum...Pizza

Today, each student got to make his or her own pizza. We began by chopping some mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes. Then, everyone got to spread their own crust (an English muffin) with sauce, and add cheese, and a choice of mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes and pepperoni. After eating our lunch, we got to eat our yummy creations!

Pet Store

We changed our dramatic arts centre. The students were excited about keeping some pets, so we changed things around to be a pet store. We brainstormed for what objects we would need. If anyone has some pet food or pet treats packaging that is empty, we would appreciate if you could send it in. On Friday, we had a special visitor, a pet bunny came to hop around. The students really enjoyed the real pet!
