Rainbow snowmen

I cringe slightly as I write this post as there may be some mom and dads who are angry with me! Today offered the perfect weather condition to go outside and use our creative side. With the senior kindergartens (red group), we took paint and decorated our snowballs and snowmen that we had previously made. We called them rainbow snowmen! I wonder what the upcoming weather will do to our masterpieces!

Building challenges

We have been challenging the students to work together (amongst a small group of students) and build a high tower that can balance a Christmas character or a snowflake. They were given a variety of materials to build with. It was interesting to watch them try to work it out amongst their friends.

Oops!

Upon completion, We then measured our structures and compared the height of each one to see which group had the tallest.

Outdoor letter hunt

With our senior Kindergartens this week, we went on an outdoor letter hunt. They had fun finding them and then we got together, talked about the letter, the letter sound, and how we could make words with these letters.

Sliding fun

We’ve enjoyed some outdoor time this week and our junior Kindergartens got to experience our sliding hill!

As you can see by the smile on their faces, they definitely enjoyed themselves!

Santa’s Seconds

Today was Stonecrest’s Annual Santa’s Seconds Sale. It is such a fun day for our little shoppers. With the help of older student “elf” shoppers, our classes descend upon the gym in search of treasures for their family (and in many cases, themselves!)

No doubt your child arrived home with some treasures and could hardly contain their excitement! It was fun listening to them as they explained what they bought and for whom.

Thank you to the volunteers who set up, cleaned up, sold items, sent in items and gave money to their child. This amazing fundraiser made over $3000 for the Dunrobin Disaster Relief Fund! So heartwarming! Thank you.

Christmas Cookies

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, we had fun baking some Christmas cookies with each of the classes. We took a simple cookie recipe, then gave each student a spoonful of batter, added smarties for eyes, a different smarties for a reindeer nose and some pretzel pieces for antlers.

It was fun AND delicious!!!
