Rocketing Fun!

Wow, we really started our morning with a BANG!!! Phil Aldis came in and gave us a demonstration of different kinds of rockets. He talked (in both French and English!) about what made rockets launch, what propelled the rockets forward and trajectory. We had so much fun!!

Each child got the opportunity to “stomp”on a launch pad, and launch a small rocket into the air.

One went so high, it ended up landing on a portable roof...we had to change the trajectory! (Thanks to Mr. Reid who helped us out!)
After every student had the opportunity to launch their own rocket, Phil went really far into the field and launched a rocket about 1000 m into the air! We watched from the safety of our yard!
Once it went up, it came back down with a parachute!

Some students asked if it had really gone to space, another asked if it had gone as high as the CN tower! What a great way to start the morning...a huge thank you to Phil!
