Preparing for winter

Starting with our geese, we have continued discussing how both animals and people prepare for winter. We have discussed how our families might get out their winter clothes, how they might bring in some wood. We have sorted a bunch of animals according to their behaviour, which gave us the opportunity for some rich conversation.
One animal that temporarily perplexed the students was the fox. So we watched a video of a fox catching a mouse in the snow. The students were fascinated by this animal behaviour and soon learned that foxes don't prepare for winter in a traditional manner. They will likely want to share this video with their family, click here if you'd like to see a fox hunting.
Some of the students have prepared their own animal in winter habitat.
