Math in nature

When out collecting leaves, we took our clipboards with us. Then, we cut our favorite leaf in half, glued them to paper and attempted to draw the other half.
This was a great exercise to ensure extra attention was paid to small details such as holes and veins.
We talked about symmetry and how both sides of an object needed to look the same. We then looked for other shapes that were symmetrical.
This was done with our senior kindergartens in the blue group so far.
