The King of "ing"

Each day, we try to do some independent reading. The students are becoming familiar with some of those high frequency words, and are eager to point them out. Recently, we noticed students asking how to spell the "ing" sound (running, going, etc), and it is certainly a common sound in some of the books we read. We have challenged them to find the "ing" sound within their short, simple books. To celebrate that, we pronounce them as "the king of ing"! They are clamouring to find the sound within the books, and then get to briefly wear the crown. When reading at home, please encourage your little reader to become "the King of ing"!
