Beekeeper visit

Today we had a special guest speaker come to visit. Paul Lacelle (Miller's great uncle) is a beekeeper and he came to tell us about bees and honey, show us someone the tools he uses and share some equipment for us to try.
A beekeeper's suit
A mini box for the bees with frames inside.
This is the smoker he uses to calm the bees before working with them.
These are photographs of what the frame might look like. The students have identified the queen bee. She is a bit larger than the rest. She lives for about two years. She may lay up to 2000 eggs a day!
Some of our newest beekeepers!
This is how many students now want to become a beekeeper!

A huge thank you to Paul, and Debbie for taking time from their busy day to teach us a bit more about busy bees and to Christy for helping to arrange it! There was so much fascinating information!
