Writing in the sand

During their outdoor time this week, the senior kindergartens searched for the perfect writing stick from the forest.

We then used it to practice the letter formation of the letters we have reviewed thus far (I, L, T) . 

We realized that we could spell "it" and then add some more letters so that we could spell sit, lit, fit, etc.

This led to an introduction of word families. Pairs of students were given some flip books in order attempt reading the words within a word family. I was very proud of their efforts. They did very well.
