I can count to 100!

We have shown the students a 100s chart in order to introduce them and get them ready to identify 2 digit numbers. We started by posting a large 100 chart, and asked them what they noticed. It was really interesting to see the variety of patterns they discovered.
They noticed that there were numbers that were doubles (i.e. 11, 22, etc.) and when we circled them, they made a diagonal line. They also noticed how the numbers increased by one, and that made another diagonal line!
They noticed the numbers in one column all ended in 0!
The column that ended in 9s!
We left it up and challenged students to find particular numbers. Some enjoyed this activity, while others had fun copying the number on the white board.

We copied several paper copies, encouraging students to find patterns. We also copied 100s charts that were missing numbers, and asked them to fill it in.
