Each morning, upon entry, the students have a building challenge to complete. They must build the largest castle possible while working with the others in their group (for some, this is the challenge). When the time is up, we use the students help to measure and record the numbers of the height and then we determine which castle is the highest.
There is a lot of social development happening as well as measuring experience, developing number literacy as they must read 2 and sometimes 3digit numbers and then much thought goes into comparing the different height to see which one is tallest!
