Even and odd

We read a story called Missing Mittens.

Farmer Bill had to keep himself as well as some of his animals warm (a cow, 3 hens, 2 horses). Each time he went to outfit them, he was always missing a mitten. It is a great way to show even and odd numbers. 

We then had everyone roll the dice, and decide if it was even or odd.

One student recorded the results of our dice roll using a T chart and tallies.

Students were then encouraged to try their own dice roll and see if their results were similar! It turned into a probability exercise!
