Measuring

We have been talking about measuring objects, mass, length, temperature, speed, etc. we have discussed and measured using non-standard measuring tools (measuring length using cubes or chains) as well as more standard measuring tools such as a thermometer. Last week, the green group was given a cylinder (paint jug) and a board and in a group, their job was to make their own balance scale. Then they had to find 2 objects and balance them. As a group, they had to draw and label their creations. 


It was extremely fascinating to see how they created this measuring tool, how they got everything to balance, how they drew and labelled their objects, but best of all, how they worked in a small group with two other classmates! We will try this tomorrow with the blue group.
