“Sense-ational” Books
We have talked about how we experience our world by using our 5 senses. We then made a little booklet using each of their 5 senses. We had so much fun. The last page says “ I can taste a candy cane”. Once they read it to an adult, we taped a candy cane to the page, to be enjoyed at home!

...and his heart grew 3 sizes that day!
We introduced a science experiment by discussing the Grinch and how his heart grew after seeing the spirit of Christmas! We started with a balloon with a heart on it.
We used a funnel to put baking soda into the balloon.
After the balloon is placed over the top of a bottle that has vinegar in it.
The baking soda falls into the bottle with vinegar and creates a chemical reaction that inflates the balloon.
We watched “the grinch’s heart” grow! If your child is in the red class, be sure to ask about the experiment, the first balloon started to inflate, then broke!

Seasons Seconds sale
What a lot of fun was had this morning as we attended Stonecrest’s annual Seasons Seconds sale! The students were so excited to buy items for their loved ones (and a few special things for themselves!)😉 Each student had their own personal shopping”elf”. It was an older student who helped them to stay focused on who they were buying for, assisted with the money and helped to carry the parcels! We hope you enjoy your treasures!

Mystery boxes
Students in the blue class have been very perceptive. They have watched Mrs. Farrell hide things in her “mystery box”, give clues and then take guesses as to what might be inside. They have taken this, run with it and started making their own.
Our “free craft Friday” has provided time and materials in order to make their own mystery box.
Everyone who makes one is welcome to be in front of the class to present their box (with an object hidden inside), share clues and invite guesses.
It has been a wonderful experience that includes so many different learning opportunities and it all came from them!
The Christmas Bakery
Each of the classrooms have added a festive bakery to their room. We have been busy brainstorming what to include, make no signs and menu items, selling baked goods, etc.
Writing about Christmas
We have been writing some simple Christmas stories. To entice some of our students we have offered special holiday pointers once the students have completed their book.
