Feeding the birds

This week, our junior Kindergarten students got to go out and feed the birds. Our first job was to find a suitable pine cone. Once a string was tied on it, they spread shortening on their cone.

They then rolled it in bird seed so that it stuck to the shortening.

We then found places to hang the feeders up in order to entice our feathered friends!

Circle Time with Mrs. Farrell-November

Circle Time with Mrs. Farrell-November

November brought a month full of exploring shapes and continuing on name recognition.

The senior kindergartens worked on recognizing all the letters in their first and last names. They practiced finding and writing their full names as well. They also worked on learning 3D shapes in a variety of games and stories. We continue to work on sight words through some fun interactive games.

The junior kindergartens worked on recognizing all the letters in their first names. They learnt a variety of 2D shapes through games, stories and songs. We focused a lot on memory games such as, the treasure box game, what shape is missing. As well as a shape memory card game that they really enjoyed.

Just a few books we read during circle time this month.

We sang, Look who has the shape bag? With a variety of 2D shapes.

The seniors practiced 3D shapes with a dice and juniors practiced 2D shapes with a dice.

Bone making

To add to our pet shop theme, students in the blue class made some salt dough “doggie treats”. We measured and mixed the ingredients.

We formed the dough into bone shapes.

And then we baked them.
A couple of days later, we then painted them.

We labelled them, priced them and added it to our pet shop. Those are some expensive dog bones! They insisted on pricing them as $600!
